Atari Teenage Riot is a German Digital Hardcore Band made up of Alec Empire, Nic Endo and Rowdy Superstar. Previous members include Hanin Elias, Carl Crack and CX KiDTRONiK.
Atari Teenage Riot was formed in 1992 as an attack on Neo-Nazi subcultures. They then were signed to a major European label in 1993 and released their first album 'Delete Yourself!' in 1994. The Beastie Boys picked up the album in 1996 and released it in the US under the name 'Burn Berlin Burn'. A track off of 'Delete Yourself' was also used in the soundtrack to the 2006 film 'The Fast and the Furious - Tokyo Drift. In 1999, they released their second album '60 Second Wipe Out' which recieved critical praise. Unfortunately, in September 2001, Carl Crack was found dead in his apartment from a drug overdose. It is not clear whether this was suicide or an accident due to Cracks frequent psychotic breaks. This led to ATR splitting up and going on to different projects. They then reformed in 2011 releasing their album 'Is This Hyperreal?' soon after, with it recieving wide critical praise on release. In 2015 they released their album 'Reset'. No others have been released since then but ATR are still together, with them releasing a new single 'Adrenaline' in December 2020.
